Comment Regarding Library Cards for Children

Comment: " Students in the Moorestown school district should ... get library cards.  I've been trying to get the parents to get them cards, [but to no avail], thereby depriving my grandchildren access to the wonderful new library and all it has to offer."


Response:  Moorestown Library is not legally allowed to give minors library cards without a parent's signature since it's a parent's responsibility to pay for any overdue fines and/or replacements.  The Library is open Monday - Thursday from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m., as well as Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Some of the most memorable and enduring popular music of the Twentieth Century was written during the Second World War.  With patriotism at an all-time high, the war effort became an integral part of the entertainment industry, creating an emotional wartime dream world of heroes, love, remembrance, reflection, and introspection.  The Music of World War II by Dr. Sheldon Winkler tells the stories behind the origins of many of these musical compositions, some of which are popular standards to this day.  Copies of Dr. Winkler's book will be available for purchase.

This beginner's workshop in casual pointed-pen calligraphy will teach you about the tools of calligraphy, basics in practice strokes and technique, as well as cover a full alphabet.  If you are just starting out or are looking for hands-on tips and techniques to improve, this workshop is for you!  If you have taken a class before and want to grow and learn beyond the beginners class this class is also for you.

We will learn how to add design elements, create a fall card and a holiday card for yourself or to give as a gift.

The teacher of this program, Graphic Artist Maureen Peters, has been a calligrapher for 30 years, is past president of Philadelphia Calligraphers' Society and the owner of Letterworks Art Studio.
