If you love cookbooks and trying new recipes, join us for a delicious lunchtime "cook group"!  We will select 3 cookbooks from our collection and hold them at the Reference Desk.  Stop by to peruse them and find a recipe that appeals to you.  We will photocopy it for you.  Make it at home and bring it to the library and we will all share the food we've made as well as all the recipes and what we thought of them, what we liked about them, and what we didn't.

Brand new and experienced cooks are welcome.

We'll provide the coffee and tea and bowls and cutlery as well as some bread to go with our soup.

First Monday Films with Irv Slifkin: Tootsie


Join film expert and author, Irv Slifkin, for this month's feature:  Tootsie (1982)

Dustin Hoffman was nominated for an Academy Award for his portrayal of a difficult New York actor who poses as a woman in order to get a role in a soap opera.  As his popularity increases, so do his personal issues, including a few male admirers and his own affection for one of his co-stars, a single mother played by Jessica Lange, who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Mark your calendar for: Winter Reading - For children and teens of all ages!


Do you like Summer Reading at the Moorestown Librray?  Then you'll LOVE this!  Read books at home throughout the month of February, tell a children's librarian about them (maximum 3 books per day), and fill out a raffle ticket for each book you read.  Put your completed tickets in the drawings by February 29 to win cool prizes like gift cards to Barnes and Noble, iTunes, Build-a-Bear, and Happy Hippo.  The more you read, the better your chances are to win!  (Children who are not yet reading on their own can tell us about books that are read to them.)

Didn't win the raffle?  All children who report on at least 3 books can choose a grab box prize.  Winners will be notified on Tuesday, March 1.  All prizes must be claimed by Friday, April 1.

Sign up today for: Bollywood Dance


Teens (15 and up) and adults are invited to try a new way of moving with a series of Bollywood dance classes taught by Malathi Pentapalli of Nritya Creations Academy of Dance.  Learn and perform exciting dances choreographed to the most popular Bollywood songs.  This is a great class for teens who are interested in dancing like the stars on TV and adults who are looking for a fun way to work out with friends and family!  Technique from Bollywood, Semi-Classical, Bhangra, Hip Hop, Jazz and Cize will be taught based on songs chosen.

On Thursday, January 21 at 7 p.m. come for an introduction to Bollywood Dance.  This introductory class is free, but registration is limited and required.

First Monday Films with Irv Slifkin: Sullivan's Travels

Join film expert and author, Irv Slifkin, for this month's feature:  Sullivan's Travels (1941)

Writer-director Preston Sturges mixes screwball antics with seriousness in this combo road movie/social drama/Hollywood spoof.  Joel McCrea is the successful Hollywood helmer of escapist farce who wants to get close to the public in order to make his serious change-of-pace saga "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"  But first he must take to the road, impersonating a hobo, for research, with Veronica Lake and the great Sturges supporting troupe, taking part in the unpredictable journey that inspired the Coen Brothers' film "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"
