April 30: It's meet the staff Monday!

Welcome back to Meet the Staff Monday! Meet Library Assistant Ro Hill!

How long have you worked at the library? What department are you in/what do you do?
In April, 2008, I was hired as a part-time librarian assistant in the circulation department, and became full-time last January. It's very rewarding matching patrons with a great book , DVD, or CD for entertainment  or something more targeted for work or study.  Seeing friends and neighbors  on a regular basis is an added bonus.

What are your hobbies (or, what do you do when you're not at the library)?
Horses, orchids, kayaking and music are my major activities outside of the library. New age and Celtic are my favorite genres; as a member of the Greater Pinelands Dulcimer Society, I play hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer and am dabbling with the Irish whistle. While I haven't knowingly driven any snakes out of Moorestown, my cats tend to depart the area in a hurry when I play!

What are your favorite books?

Non-fiction is my reading preference, most recently Lost in Shangri-La by Mitchell Zuckoff on our new book shelf gets my "thumbs up".  Other favorite "Ro's reads" include: The Secret Gift,  The Necklace,
Flawless, The Soloist, Signing Their Lives Away, The Other Side of the Night: the Carpathia, the California and the Night the Titanic Was Lost, and The Shepherd, the Angel, and Walter the Christmas Miracle Dog.
