Monthly list of new books

Your suggestion: "I would like a monthly list of new books that the library has purchased"

Our answer: The library currently adds about 500 new items per month, including adult fiction and non-fiction, reference, audiobooks, movies, and children's materials. This would make publishing a list quite a tall order! We'd like to be able to help you, so could you tell us a bit more about what you'd like? New fiction? New nonfiction? Something else? Also, are you looking for a printed list or something you could access on the library's website? Perhaps you could contact us directly at the Reference Desk to discuss this further.

In the meantime, here are some options to help you find out what's new in the library:

1. Any adult books published in the last 6-9 months are shelved on the New Book shelves at the entrance to the library.

2. Every month the library publishes a list on it's website of upcoming titles by popular fiction authors. Check out a recent list.

3. Subscribe to one of our Next Reads newsletters. Every month you'll receive a newsletter in your email that highlights new titles in the genre you select.

Hope this helps!

Computer time

Your suggestion: "I would suggest that the recent time limit on computer use only apply to those under 18. I use the computer to find and apply for employment and with this limit, I am not allowed appropriate time to apply for a few jobs. As you know, the majority of jobs today refer the job seeker to fill out the online application. Or make the limit 2hrs with a waiting period of, say, 30 min to 1hr between to give another use."

Our answer: With the current economic climate, our computers are more heavily used than ever before. Both adult job seekers and students without internet access at home need library computers. Given the increased need for computers, we needed to decrease the maximum amount of time per user. Two hours seems to be an adequate amount of time for most users to accomplish what they need. Children under 18 have as much right to the computers as adults.

Online listening library

Your suggestion: I'd love it if you'd sign up for this online listening library. I'm looking for classical music. http://clmu.alexanderstreet.com

Our answer: We'd love to sign up for it as well, but with the current budget situation it's not possible. Please see our homepage under "Library funding threatened" for more information.

Documentaries on serial killers

Your Suggestion: "You should have documentaries on serial killers so kids in this town can get their projects and papers written and done instead of having to drive around burlington county to find videos about cannibals and crazy goons"

Our answer: We do have a DVD entitled "The mind of a serial killer" that is a documentary about some of the most well know serial killers. If there are other materials you need, you can always ask us to request them through Interlibrary Loan.

Bible study group at the library

To the patron who wrote asking to form a Bible study group at the library...

Although our meeting room is available for rental to community organizations our meeting room policy does not permit use by religious groups.

Overdue fines

To the patron who wrote "I have just returned from the library where I was told I could not use my card due to overdue fines. I have not received any notification of these fines..."

We did not get your name and contact information because the suggestion file ran out of space. When library materials are returned after the due date, the overdue fines remain on your record and when the total reaches $10.00 your card cannot be used until the account is cleared. We do send overdue notices but we do not send notices about fines remaining on your record once the materials have been returned.

Look into functionality of overdue notices

To the patron who asked us to "look into the functionality of ...overdue and e-mail reminders"...

We are very sorry you have had trouble receiving our notices. It is possible that they are being inadvertently filtered out as spam. The best way for us to resolve this problem is for you to call us and speak to Joanne or Maria at the Reference Desk. We can check your account to make sure we have your contact information correctly. Then we will send a test e-mail to you and see if you receive it. We do send e-mail to patrons with both comcast and gmail accounts successfully, so we should be able to resolve this problem. Thank you for your patience and we'll wait for your call.
